Reduce stress and recharge your batteries with mini breaks

Hectic phone calls, important meetings, deadlines: result in complete stress – what can calm you quickly? Take a breather to recharge your batteries.

Breathing – when done consciously – can have a tremendously calming effect. With stress of any kind, the heart beats faster and breathing speeds up, thus becoming flatter and less effective. Your body absorbs less oxygen and results in lower energy levels.

Take a Breather

Sit on a chair and pay close attention to your breathing, letting it flow. Count slowly to three as you inhale through the nose. Briefly hold your breath and then exhale through the mouth. Slow the process down by narrowing your lips, for example. Once again count to three, but slower than during inhalation. This is again followed by a short break until the next breath begins. Repeat this conscious breathing exercise three to five times, slowly and without haste.  Every single breath supplies all your body's cells with vital oxygen, i.e. with pure energy. Conscious breathing gives back the energy depleted by stress.
